Sizes and Patterns

Two-inch: The standard stocking size is 2x6 inch nominal dressed at the specified moisture content of 19 percent to the actual size and V-grooved pattern shown in Figure 1. Other thicknesses and widths are available. Three-and Four-inch: Standard stocking sizes are 3x6 and 4x6 inch, nominal, dressed at the specified moisture content of 19 percent to the actual sizes and V-joint patterns as shown in Figures 2 and 3 respectively. The finished face width overall for both thicknesses is 5 1/4 inch. All 3-and 4-inch decking is predrilled for 8-inch hardened steel spikes.

 

Lengths

Decking can be ordered in specified length or in random length and end matched. All layup arrangements other than controlled random layup require that the purchaser indicate the required lengths. If ordered as random length, odd or even lengths are permitted, and the minimum lengths shall be based on the following percentages:

 

 

 

A. Two-Inch Decking Not less than 40% to be 14 ft. and longer Not over 10% to be less than 10 ft. Not over 1% to be 4 to 5 ft. Random length is limited to 75% of the span length (i.e. for 8 ft. support spacing, 6 ft.)   B. Three-Inch Decking Not less than 40% to be 14 ft. and longer Not over 10% to be less than 10 ft. Not over 1% to be 4 to 5 ft.   C. Four-Inch Decking Not less than 25% to be 16 ft. and longer Not less than 50% to be 14 ft. and longer Not over 10% to be 5 to 10 ft. Not over 1% to be 4 to 5 ft.
